Tablets are versatile devices that people may prefer over both a smartphone and a laptop. They are portable gadgets and offer a wide range of applications from gaming to watching movies and doing office work. These devices come in many different sizes, as well as operating power and screen resolution. The latest models are getting closer and closer to replacing laptops.
A 10-inch tablet is a great choice for many tasks, including gaming, surfing the net, writing, video conferencing, video editing, photo editing, note-taking for students and professionals, etc. These tablets can replace a laptop with the simple addition of a wireless external keyboard to make typing easy and fast. Some have even been designed as 2-in-1 devices that can be used both as laptops and tablets. These tablets might not be as portable as 7-inch or 8-inch tablets, but they are still better than bulky laptops regarding portability.
In this post, we will review the top 12 tablets that fall under the 10-inch size category. These devices have been selected based on their overall rating and feature set. We take into consideration – performance, battery life, resolution, ram, price, capabilities, and the overall feeling when using the tablet. (as well as the possible accessories) You can compare their specifications easily and choose a device that fulfills your requirements. Don’t forget to read the buyer’s guide at the end of this post to find out some of the features you must look for before making the final decision.
So without further ado – let’s dive in and find the most suitable device for your needs.
1. Apple iPad Air 4 (2020 model) – Overall The Best 10-inch Tablet
It’s safe to say that Apple iPad Air 4 is an incredible device. It looks like iPad Pro, but it’s not, but performance-wise it’s not far behind. It even looks like the new iPad Pro, and it has almost all of the same features, more or less.
The few compromises there are no Face ID, no LiDAR, and no 120Hz display.
It’s quite tricky when you’re trying to decide on the previous generation iPad Pro’s or the new Apple iPad Air 4 — the iPad Pros are awkwardly slower than the Air. (I’m talking here about the 2018 iPad Pro)
If you’re looking for a device between price and performance – this is your best pick. With such magnificent improvements from their previous model, we are sure there will be a new iPad Pro out as well, but is it worth the wait? If you don’t mind the Face ID and a bit weaker performance, this is definitely your device.
If you’re in the market for an iPad/Tablet, specifically 10-inch, then this is the device. There are significant updates from the previous model, and it costs only $100 more. Without a surprise, we have listed it in our best 10-inch tablet first position. Well deserved.

3. Apple iPad 9 – Best Budget iPad
Back in the day, when the Apple iPad series was split between the traditional iPad and the iPad mini, owning either of them meant shelling out almost as much as the iPhone. Apple segmented the iPad series into iPad Air and iPad Pro to cater to premium users, which made room for the original iPad to somehow become one of the best budget tablets out there.
The saga continues with the iPad 9, which surprisingly is priced the same as its predecessor but manages to bring in even more features. You won’t be able to tell the iPad 9th Generation apart from its older siblings since it is identical in all dimensions, but the real difference is the hardware. Powered by the newer Apple A13 Bionic, which first came out in 2019 with the iPhone 11, the improved multi-core performance will make multitasking a breeze on the iPad 9.
In combination with the better processor, the front camera finally gets a massive upgrade with the 12MP Ultra Wide front camera, which focuses on the increased need for video calls. While the display technology stays the same, Apple has thrown in some software-level enhancements with True Tone display and sRGB support, which should make watching videos on the IPS LCD screen a bit more enjoyable.
Pros 👍
- Improved performance with the upgraded A13 Bionic processor
- Support for Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard for increased productivity
- Upgraded Center Stage camera makes it ideal for video calling
Cons 👎
- Outdated design with large bezels on all sides

4. Microsoft Surface Go 2
A new tablet has entered the game – Microsoft Surface Go2. What’s new compared to its successor Microsoft Surface Go? The display has grown from 10-inch to 10.5-inch. With a new HD display of 1920×1280 pixels. The screen has also been updated to scratch-resistant. Also, a new processor might make the device more desirable for a broader audience. New mic and even improved camera. HD quality for video meetings. Quite the improvements from the previous model.
As we have already mentioned in our other articles – it’s a good device, overall, budget class. Not exactly the working device you want it to be. The 10.5-inch screen makes it difficult to work on, and also it has average battery life. Great tablet, overall, but not your primary working device. It can ensure great web browsing, video calls, emails, and other small daily routine tasks. It’s a good alternative to your primary device.
If you’re looking for something affordable as an additional device, it’s a good fit, and of course, it’s good for entertainment purposes, to relax on your couch after a long day at work, or even for college students, for research note-taking, and writing.
That’s exactly why it has an S Pen and a keyboard. If this description fits your needs, it might be a good pick for you.

The only issue we would like to point out – it doesn’t have a USB-C, which sets limits on the device. Different charger, connection limitations, etc.

9. Lenovo Chromebook Duet
Lenovo Chromebook Duet isn’t trying to be perfect. It’s not for tech-savvy users, and it’s definitely not meant for heavy multitasking. Let’s remember it’s a budget tablet 2-in-1 that costs $300. It’s damn near perfect for the price it’s being sold. If you’re looking for a device to entertain your kids, which could, by the way, handle schoolwork, it’s a good pick. It also works well for streaming videos, movies, tv shows, etc. More than enough if you’re looking for an additional device to send emails on the go or have video meetings. 10. Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus (2021)
While giants of the tech industry such as Apple and Samsung are busy locking horns over the premium and mid-range tablet market, Amazon has stayed closer to the ground and conquered it all. Amazon Fire HD tablets have not been wildly popular due to the fact that there is no native support for Google apps, and that does continue with Fire OS.
However, the Fire HD 10 series has consistently been marked down as the cheapest branded tablet you can find online. With the release of the Fire HD 10 Plus tablet revived for 2021, the competition for under $200 has been whitewashed completely.
Although the hardware has not been turned upside down, you still get twice the amount of RAM compared to the previous generation, with some nifty features such as wireless charging and keyboard case support, both of which can be purchased separately from Amazon. A champion feature of this budget tablet that is worth mentioning is the long-lasting battery life, which gives you around 12 hours of screen on time.
Pros 👍
- Improved performance with double the RAM of the previous generation
- Latest connectivity standard with USB-C and wireless charging support
- One of the most value-for-money Android tablets on the market

- No native support for Google apps largely restricts the user experience

In our opinion, this is one of the best tablets released by Samsung this year.
One downside is its low internal storage, but you can compensate for it with external memory. You may want to compare it to other Samsung models, but this one offers great value for money. It is also a kid-friendly tablet because it is compatible with Samsung Kids, allowing parents to monitor their child’s screen time.

The price is one of the things that makes it so attractive, at just $229 for the tablet, keyboard, and digitizer pen all at once.
The Chuwi Hi10 X, a 2-in-1 tablet that may be the best value Windows tablet of 2020 due to its price. Typical 2.4 GHz Intel Celeron N4100 “Gemini Lake” benchmark scores in Geekbench 4 would be 1800 in single-core and 5370 in multi-core scores, even if it had less and slower RAM, so with 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB of storage, this is pretty much the perfect hardware for a 10.1-inch 2-in-1 tablet with Windows, when you consider that you can get more than four of these tablets for the price of one Surface Pro X. Don’t get fooled by the price, it’s a very efficient tablet.

Why we ranked iPad Air 4 above S6 Samsung in 10-inch category?
Galaxy Tab S series is to tablets what the Galaxy S series is to smartphones, making the Galaxy Tab S6 is a “flagship” tablet from Samsung. Apple maintains the same status quo with the “Pro” moniker for iPad and iPhone, but the iPad Air 2020 is blurring the lines between the two, giving the Galaxy S6 a run for its money.
The iPad Air may resemble the big brother iPad Pro in terms of the slimmed-out bezels and the strikingly new USB-C port, and it is still claimed to be a mid-ranger by all means, not stealing the thunder from the iPad Pro. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab features high-end specs with a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an AMOLED display, and fancy features.
However, the iPad Air overachieves with features such as Apple Pencil 2 support and a brand new True Depth camera paired with Apple’s latest A14 Bionic chipset. But the Galaxy Tab S6 fails to live up to the flagship name due to a half-baked One UI Android 9 Pie, which just isn’t as streamlined as iPadOS, compelling us to rank the iPad Air 2020 4th generation a scale higher.
What is the Best 10-inch Tablet?
Now that we have reviewed all the best tablets in the 10-inch category, it’s time to announce the winner. And in our opinion, it’s none other than the Apple iPad Air 4 2020. With the latest processor and the new brilliant design, this tablet comes with all the features anybody could want: dual camera, outstanding battery life compared to other devices, and even some laptops.
You will definitely enjoy these features for a long time to come. It is compatible with all the apps you can find in the App Store. With the new updated design, you might mix it up with the new Apple iPad Pro, it’s not there yet, but looking at the price, we believe it’s even a better pick. You can attach the new Apple iPad Air 4 to the Magic Keyboard, use Apple Pencil 2. The only downside is you can even call it – no Face ID, LiDar, and weaker resolution.
The new Apple iPad Air 4 definitely deserves the title: Best 10-inch tablet
What is the Best 10-inch Android Tablet?
Some people prefer only Android tablets because they are comfortable with the operating system or have other devices at home that run on an Android system. Connectivity can become an issue when two devices running on two different operating systems need to be connected for file transfer. If you’re looking for the best 10-inch Android tablet, consider checking out Samsung’s various models. We recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. In our opinion, it’s the best 10-inch Andriod tablet. It has the latest Android operating system as well as advanced features like built-in Google Assistant. Possibility to attach a keyboard and a stylus pen.
What is the Best Budget 10-inch Tablet?
We’re talking budget, which is a nice word for “cheap,” meaning the best budget tablet will have its limitations. We would love to categorize Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus as the best budget 10-inch tablet on the market. It’s running on Fire OS.
The device is suited for streaming videos, movies, running 2D games, or low-performance 3D games. Let’s not forget – social media and web browsing, of course. Family-friendly budget tablet, solid choice if the above use cases fit your needs.
The new Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus was updated in 2021.
Which is Better, an 8-inch or 10-inch Tablet?
Tablets should be picked according to your personal needs. 8-inch tablets are not very common as Samsung is the only respectable, well-known brand currently offering tablets of this screen size. 10-inch would definitely be a better option, especially in 2021. The screen is bigger. It’s easier to switch from your laptop to a tablet to do some quick tasks. If you plan to go on a quick road trip or a business trip, a tablet could replace your laptop. A tablet with a bigger screen size will give you more room to work with.
Last-Minute Tips
- If you have a limited budget, we recommend looking at some renewed Samsung and iPad models instead of spending your money on low-quality devices that offer no value for money.
- A basic tablet cannot fully replace a laptop, so if you’re looking for a laptop replacement, then go for 2-in-1 tablets available on the market.
- Tablets are now available in four operating systems: iOS, Android, and Windows 10, Fire OS.
- First, determine the purpose of your tablet and then choose a model accordingly. There are tablets for kids, work, and gaming, and they largely differ in specs and price.
Conclusion
Tablets are being evolved from small and low-performing devices to totally incredible gadgets that can totally change your interaction with such a device. These new models offer remarkable performance and amazing screen size as well as unmatched graphics. Play games, surf the net, watch movies, do your office work, draw, take notes, etc. These tablets offer it all.
It’s a good idea to check out the features and specifications of all available devices before choosing one so that your money is spent wisely. In the category of 10-inch tablets, there are quite a few options available on the market ranging from high-end Apple iPads to mid-range Android tablets by Samsung and affordably Amazon Fire HD. Your budget plays an important role in this decision.
