Now that Galaxy S6 Lite has been launched by Samsung, we should take closer looks into how this most economical solution compares to the first-class tablet of the company, the Galaxy Tab S6. Likewise, the flagship model of the Tab S6 Lite has 64 GB of storage with a 128 GB option, while the Tab S6 is available with 128 GB / 256 GB memory.

Both tablets have the same connectivity features. However, the Galaxy Tab S6 has a fingerprint sensor built into the screen while the Tab S6 Lite lacks fully biometric authentication. On the positive side, the economy model includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, which gives you more options in terms of external speakers and headphones.

The comparisons of the battery life between these two models will be very interesting since each model is based on a 7040 mAh battery and has completely different display technologies and chipset. Snapdragon 855 is a high-quality chip, while Exynos code 9611 is a mid-range solution.

On the camera side, the Galaxy Tab S6 is clearly the winner here. It has a wide 13-megapixel sensor with a front shooter of 5 megapixels and 8 megapixels. The Galaxy S6 Lite is compatible with the 8 MP main camera and the 5 MP front unit.

Software

Both tablets come with the Samsung S Productivity suite of apps for productivity. Still, one of the great benefits of owning the Galaxy S6 Lite over the premium model is that it will get an updated additional major for Android.

Tab S6 Lite ships with Android 10, while Tab S6 Advanced ships with Android 9 and has since been upgraded to the latest version of the operating system.

Due to Samsung’s firmware update policy, the Galaxy Tab S6 will no longer receive new operating system updates before the Galaxy S6 Lite. The first will only get Android 11, while Tab S6 Lite must be technically guaranteed to receive Android 11 and Android 12.

The Galaxy S6 Lite runs on the Exynos 9611 chipset, made by Samsung itself, which we saw earlier in several affordable mid-range phones such as the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A50. This is associated with a 4 GB RAM.

Exynos 9611 is not a powerful chipset, but it’s good if you don’t do anything that requires a lot. We found out that low, well-optimized games work well on the device, so we can ignore Call of Duty: Mobile Match, but too difficult games will be slow, or the device freezes repeatedly – PUBG Mobile did face this a few minutes after the game. Overall it’s a good tablet for gaming if you intend to play medium-range games.

The main issue with performance is the speed of navigation, as there is a slight delay when scrolling between menus, touching the screen to write, or opening a new application. Anyone who uses low-end tablets or phones will be used for this, as it is only a display of medium specs, but using Galaxy Tab can sometimes be frustrating as a result. More importantly, lower iPads do not have this problem.

It was not a constant nuisance, because the problem only raised its head when many background functions were running, or applications were downloaded. Still, you will not find the Galaxy S6 Lite too faster to navigate than the iPad.

Tab S6 Lite has a 1313 multi-core result – which is less than half that of 3061 on the Galaxy S20. It’s a very low score, and although we don’t have any other results on the shelves to compare it given that Geekbench, the test program we used, changed its scoring system in late 2019, we can compare it to smartphones.

The speeds of the Tab S6 Lite only exceed those of the very weak competition like the Redmi (the Note 8T got 1158), and even loses to mid-range phones such as Oppo Reno 2Z (1482). Overall, the performance of the Tab S6 Lite here was very poor, which explains the games that hang and move slowly.

As mentioned earlier, navigation can be slow, and the most obvious sign of this was unlocking facial recognition, which rarely worked before we had time to type in our password in any way – and that does not help you transport the device. The tablet is abnormally out of your face for it to work.
